The Newton Tab reports that the $37.5 million project replaces a 93-year-old facility with 75,000 square feet of modern education space. The building will house about 400 students and has been designed to receive a LEED Silver rating for its energy-saving features.
Since 2014, students from Angier have been attending classes in the Carr elementary school building while Angier was being rebuilt.
With the reconstruction of Angier completed, Newton will proceed with rebuilding another elementary—Zervas. Following that project, the district plans to renovate and expand Cabot Elementary.
The project manager for the rebuilding is Joslin Lesser. The architect is DeNisco Design Partnership, and the construction manager is WT Rich Co.
