Building upgrades have begun at all three schools in the Columbus (Wis.) district.

The additions will total 60,000 square feet and renovations will total 59,600 square feet, reports the Daily Citizen.

Voters approved a $30 million bond issue in April 2020 to pay for the improvements.

Columbus Elementary School improvements will result in a “like new” school with new classrooms, a cafeteria, and new gymnasium and renovations that will touch almost all areas of the existing school.

Columbus Middle School is getting updated bathrooms as well as safety and security improvements.

Columbus High School will add a cafeteria. The existing cafeteria will be converted to a fitness area.

The project is set to be completed in August 2022.

C.D. Smith is the construction manager and Bray Architects is the architect.
