The school will give local students opportunities to enhance their skills in music, film, dance, theater and visual arts.
Called either Baton Rouge School for the Arts or Baton Rouge Conservatory of the Arts, the school will enroll between 455 and 490 students in grades six to 12. It will open in 2023 with only middle school grades the first year and then add high school grades in 2024.
The school also will offer summer camps and after-school arts classes accessible to students across the district.
