The science building at Westside High School in Anderson, S.C. is undergoing a $6 million renovation.
The renovation will provide updated equipment and larger spaces, reports The Anderson Independent-Mail.
Initial plans called for converting two classrooms to labs, but school officials realized a more substantial renovation was needed.
Students and teachers have been using a makeshift lab in the school's Freshman Academy Building.
The renovation will incorporate higher safety measures, more space for students to collaborate, and more experiment options with advanced equipment.
The two new lab spaces will hold 30 students each.
