The Erie district is installing a new heating and cooling system along with other upgrades at the school, reports The Erie Times-News.
It is also getting a new electrical system, a new elevator, a remodeled library and a revamped entrance.
The first phase of the renovations has an estimated cost at $26 million. It is on schedule to be done by the end of summer.
The renovations are part of the district's plan to make all of its 16 school buildings "warm, safe and dry." Budget limitations have left many of the district's schools in need of repair.
Phase two of renovations at Erie High will revamp the gym and renovate the school's south and north offices and auditorium.
