Renovation
North Bergen (N.J.) district is converting former high school to a junior high
The North Bergen (N.J.) district is converting the former High Tech High School campus in North Bergen to a junior high.
The $39 million renovation will create a Junior High School West Campus that will accommodate grades seven through nine along with culinary arts and career technical education programs, reports The Hudson Reporter.
The renovation plans call for the addition of an auditorium, turf field, and student walkway.
High Tech High School left the North Bergen site in 2018 when it opened a $160 million campus in Secaucus.
A 2018 voter approved $60 million bond referendum will fund the renovation of the North Bergen campus.
The junior high is set to open in 2023.
