Saginaw Valley State University in Bay County Mich., is moving forward with a renovation of Brown Hall, a classroom and office facility that was damaged in a 2019 fire.

The university says in a news release that it has received $21.8 million in state funding and will allocate $7 million of its own funds to carry out the renovation.

The first and second floors of the three-story structure sustained significant damage in the fire, which started in a second-floor classroom in March 2019, Mlive.com reports.

The facility houses classrooms and faculty offices for several academic departments and is home to university psychology labs, campus officials say.
