$28 million donation will pay for campus upgrades at Catholic boarding school in Ohio
A Catholic boarding school in Gates Mills, Ohio, has received a $28 million donation that will enable a major campus upgrade.
The Howley Foundation has donated about $28 million to Gilmour Academy, which will help pay for a new student commons and dining hall, and restoration of the 98-year-old Tudor House and Tudor Gardens, reports Cleveland.com. Some of the donation also will pay for scholarships to Gilmour for 48 students in grades seven to 12. The school has both day and residential programs and has about 750 students from preschool through 12th grade.
The new student commons will serve as the campus dining hall and will more than double seating capacity. The space will feature a college-style dining layout, with enhanced dining options. It will also serve as a gathering space for student and faculty throughout the day.
The Tudor House and Tudor Gardens renovations will enhance the slate roof and numerous chimneys, copper gutters and flashing, masonry, windows, doors and foundation.
The Tudor House and Tudor Gardens are used for administrative offices, alumni and parent gatherings, as well as student meetings and events.
