University of Wisconsin-Stout seeks a $120 million renovation of Heritage Hall
The University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie is planning a major renovation of Heritage Hall.
The university system's Board of Regents has okayed the $120 million project, but funding must be included in the state budget, and the State Building Commission also must approve the plans.
Heritage Hall is home to the School of Education, School of Hospitality Leadership, nutrition and family health, and the Weidner Center for residential property management, the university says in a news release.
The facility has not been renovated since it opened nearly 50 years ago.
The updated Heritage Hall will feature a new entrance on the north side, and the inside will feature flexible spaces for classes and labs with equipment throughout.
Other planned improvements: new code-compliant and accessible restrooms; energy-efficient windows; new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems; and a new roof.
The plans also call for razing a portion of the Vocational Rehabilitation Building, a block west of Heritage Hall. The programs in the Vocational Rehabilitation Building will relocate to Heritage Hall.
Construction could begin as early as fall 2025 and would take about 24 months to complete.
