Germanna Community College has bought two buildings in Stafford, Va., and will make them home for a Center of Educational Excellence.
The community college paid $15 million for the two buildings, named the Barbara J. Fried Center and the Kevin L. Dillard Health Sciences Center. The facilities total over 74,000 square feet and will meet Germanna’s space requirements in Stafford for the foreseeable future, the college says in a news release.
In addition, Germanna will be expanding cybersecurity, information technology, general education and dual enrollment programs.
The buildings will help Germanna accommodate its growing enrollment. Not counting noncredit workforce training students, Germanna has about 3,191 students at the Stafford location this year and that number is projected to grow to about 3,693 by 2025.
Construction to modify the buildings to meet Germanna’s needs will begin soon.
