The Campbell County (Virginia) School Board is ready to begin work next month on a $50 million renovation of Brookville High School in Lynchburg.

The Lynchburg News & Advance reports the design calls for renovating the front entry, and adding a new auxiliary gym at the back corner of the school.

“The reason why we need that, is because we’re actually taking the current auxiliary gym and turning it into a new commons, community space for student gathering,” said Nathan Harper, director of design for Spectrum Design.

The auditorium will be renovated and the library will be reworked. The academic wing of the high school will be completely renovated and updated, introducing new lighting.

A large section in the center of the school between the arts wing, the main gymnasium and auditorium that will become the student dining space. The lower level of the school will feature new locker rooms along with a new kitchen space.

The expected completion date for the renovation is May 2026.

The contractor is Blair Construction.
