The Indianola (Iowa) district has begun a $100 million renovation of Indianola High School.

KCCI-TV reports that the district is building new academic wings, tearing down old ones, and modernizing existing spaces while keeping the school open.

The district moved forward with renovation plans after concluding that existing facility no longer met modern educational needs.Voters approved a $70 million bond issue in September 2022 to help pay for the renovations.

The goal is to keep the high school in its existing location but with a significantly different look and more space to accommodate 3,500 students and future growth.

The project includes a new competition gym in its second phase.

If all goes as planned, construction on both phases of the high school should be completed by 2028.

The architect is INVISION.
