Each year, the NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments tracks the financial performance of endowments at U.S. colleges and universities. In fiscal 2015, the 812 institutions participating in the survey reported an average one-year return on investment of 2.4 percent—a sharp decline compared with 2014.

The study also shows the higher-education institutions whose endowments have the largest market value. Here are the 10 largest for fiscal 2015.
