In fall 2015, nearly 20 million students were attending colleges and universities in the United States, and about one of ever six students identified as Hispanic.
The federal government's Digest of Education Statistics 2016 says 19,977,270 students were enrolled in fall 2015 in degree-granting postsecondary institutions. Of those, 3,292,156 students were Hispanic.
Two states—California and Texas—accounted for nearly half of all Hispanic college students in the United States, the numbers show. California topped the list with more than a million Hispanic students.
