Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge ranks as the top higher education institution for 2020, according to the WalletHub website.

The site's 2020 Best College & University Rankings examines data in an effort to determine which institutions provide the best education experience for students.

MIT was followed on the list by its Cambridge neighbor, Harvard University.

To determine the top-performing schools at the lowest possible costs to undergraduates, WalletHub compared more than 1,000 higher-education institutions in the United States across 33 key measures that are broken down into seven categories:  1) Student Selectivity, 2) Cost & Financing, 3) Faculty Resources, 4) Campus Safety, 5) Campus Experience, 6) Educational Outcomes and 7) Career Outcomes.

The measures include areas such as student-faculty ratio, graduation rates and post-attendance median salary. Each of the 33 metrics was graded on a 100-point scale; a score of 100 represents the best school performance and the most favorable conditions for undergraduate students.

Here are the 10 colleges and universities that WalletHub's analysis says are the top higher-education institutions.
