A student at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., has been arrested in the stabbing of an LSU student in a Southeastern residence hall.

The Baton Rouge Advocate reports that Elizabeth Grace Johnson, 18, of Folsom, La., was arrested after university police responded to a reported disturbance on the third floor of University Hall. There, they found a non-student that had been stabbed multiple times by his dating partner, the Southeastern student, according to a police report.

Both Johnson and the victim were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Johnson was subsequently charged with aggravated battery.

The victim was reported to be in critical condition. Family identified him on social media as a student at Louisiana State University.

Johnson has been released on bond; the university placed her on an interim suspension while it conducts an investigation. That means she is barred from campus, Southeastern spokesman Mike Rivault says.

"This incident currently remains under investigation, and the student will go through the proper university disciplinary process as well as the criminal justice system process," Rivault wrote. "The university process may result in disciplinary measures up to and including expulsion, but that is not yet complete."
