Oxford High School in Oxford, Mich., where four students were shot to death last week, will remain closed until at least January
District officials say discussion of resuming classes may begin after funerals for the four students were held, reports The Detroit News.
But no decisions have been made about having the high school's 1,800 students return. But it will not happen before the scheduled holiday break ends on Jan. 2, Principal Steve Wolf wrote in a letter to parents and students.
"We truly miss you and can’t wait to see you soon," Wolf said in the letter. "It has been extremely difficult working through this tragedy...We plan to create many opportunities to keep connected as we work through this traumatic event."
The district plans to announce plans next week for resuming in-school instruction for students in elementary and middle school.
Classes in the Oxford district have been canceled since Nov. 30, when Ethan Crumbley, a 15-year-old sophomore allegedly opened fire with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol at school. Four students were killed, and seven other people were wounded.
Crumbley is being held on multiple counts of murder.
