Suspect in Erie, Pa., school shooting is in custody

The student suspect turned himself in to police a day after fleeing the scene of the shooting.

A student who allegedly shot a fellow student earlier this week at Erie High School in Erie, Pa., has surrendered to police. 

The shooting occurred Tuesday morning in a hallway of the high school, reports Erie News Now

The wounded student was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the building after the shooting. 

The shooter and the victim appeared to have known each other, NBC News reports. 

The suspect, who is under the age of 15, is being held in a juvenile detention facility.
