Student at Las Vegas high school charged with trying to kill his teacher over grade dispute

The discussion over grades escalated when the student, 16, allegedly punched the teacher and choked her until she lost consciousness.

A student at Eldorado High School in Las Vegas faces attempted murder and other charges after he allegedly attacked a teacher in a quarrel over grades. 

Jonathan Eluterio Martinez Garcia, 16, has been charged with sexual assault, three counts of attempted murder, robbery and battery with intent to commit sex assault, The Las Vegas Review Journal reports

Police say Garcia met with the teacher in her classroom Thursday afternoon to discuss his grades. At some point, he allegedly began hitting the teacher and choked her until she lost consciousness. 

Another employee at the school found the injured teacher and called police. The teacher was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Garcia was arrested about a mile from the school.
