Three people have been killed and several others injured Monday morning in a shooting at a St. Louis high school.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the shooting occurred around 9 a.m. at Central Visual & Performing Arts High School. The suspect entered the school and shot a teenage girl and a health teacher to death. Several others were injured before police shot him to death.
Police identified the shooter as Orlando Harris, 19, a graduate last year of the school.
The shooting was reported around 9 a.m. The school principal reportedly came over the loudspeaker around 9 a.m. and said the code word that indicates a school shooter was in the building
Witnesses said they saw a man wearing all black with a long gun inside the school.
Police declined to say how the gunman got into the building but said all doors were locked. The building has metal detectors and seven security officers.
Four other students were shot and injured — two in the leg, one in the arm, and one in the hands and jaw. Two more students suffered abrasions, and a girl fractured her ankle.
Authorities say the gunman had no criminal history. One survivor heard the shooter say he was “tired of everybody” in the school.
