Georgia high school student fatally shot near campus

A 17-year-old student has been shot to death after leaving the campus of his Norcross, Ga., high school.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that DeAndre Henderson was shot Wednesday about a mile from Norcross High School in the Gwinnett County district.

Police say they believe Henderson left the school campus during school hours.

"It appears to be an isolated incident; the shooting did not occur on school property," Public Information Officer Hideshi Valle said. "Norcross High School students and staff are not under any threat."

Valle said no arrest has been made.
