CBS News reports that the students attend Edmondson Westside High School, which is across the street from the Edmondson Village Shopping Center, where the attack took place.
Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison says the shooting victims, all male, were in front of a restaurant when two suspects drove by, fired multiple rounds, and then took off.
Officers responded and found a 16-year-old, two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old with gunshot wounds. The 16-year-old died at the hospital, according to police.
Police say the students had left school during lunchtime when they were shot. Authorities have encouraged businesses to not serve students during the school day.
