3 killed, 5 wounded in shooting attack at Michigan State University
Three students were killed and five others wounded in a shooting attack at Michigan State University in East Lansing.
The Lansing State Journal reports that university police have confirmed three fatalities, as well as five victims who have been taken to a local hospital. A Sparrow Hospital spokesman said all five victims are in critical condition.
The suspected shooter took his own life. police say, nearly 5 miles from campus.
He was a 43-year-old man who had no affiliation with the college, MSU Police and Public Safety Interim Deputy Chief Chris Rozman said.
"We have no idea why he came to campus to do this," Rozman said
Authorities said shootings took place Monday night at two locations on campus.
The first shooting was reported at Berkey Hall at 8:18 p.m. Another shooting took place at the Student Union. Alll of the victims are students.
All campus activities have been canceled for 48 hours, including athletics, classes, and all campus-related activities, police said.
