One student was killed and another injured in a shooting outside a Texas high school on Monday morning.
The Dallas Morning News reports that the attack occurred at Lamar High School in Arlington around 6:55 a.m., before many students arrived.
Police said one boy was wounded and taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died. His identity has not been disclosed.
Another student, a girl, was grazed by a bullet, police said. She was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
The alleged shooter was arrested soon after officers arrived on the scene. He was being held at the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center on a capital murder charge, police said. Investigators have not determined a motive in the attack.
Both students and the suspect are under the age of 17, police said.
Monday was the first day back to classes after the spring break, according to police and school district officials.
