High school student in Gridley, California, injured in school stabbing

Another student at Gridley High School faces felony charges in the attack.

A student at Gridley High School in Gridley, California, remains hospitalized after being stabbed, allegedly by another student, in a school locker room.

KCRC-TV reports that a juvenile suspect has been arrested and booked into the Butte County Juvenile Hall on felony charges, including premeditated attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon on school grounds and concealed carry of a dirk or dagger.

Neither student's identity has been disclosed.

Police said an officer responded Wednesday morning to a report of a person down in the boys' locker room. A student had sustained a stab wound and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

A short time later, a suspect was detained by police for questioning.

Action News Now reports that according to Gridley Police, the wounded student  has undergone two surgeries and is hospitalized in stable condition.

Gridley is about 55 miles north of Sacramento.
