4 students injured in shooting at junior/senior high school in Madison, Ohio

Four students have been injured in a shooting at Madison Junior/Senior High School in Madison, Ohio.

The Butler County Sheriff's office says two students were wounded by gunfire and two others also sustained injuries in the incident. It was not clear how those injuries occurred. Authorities say the injuries are not life-threatening.

A suspect, a 14-year-old student, is in custody. Police apprehended him after he ran from the scene.

Initial reports from the Madison Local School District indicated three students sustained injuries.

The district has not disclosed the details of the shooting.  The K-12 school system has about 1,600 students, and all students attend classes on one campus.

The junior/senior high school part of the campus was placed on lockdown after the shooting until authorities determined it was safe dismiss students for the day.

A parent interviewed by WLWT-TV says the alleged shooter is an eighth-grade student.

The parents of all injured students have been notified, the district says.
