Second-grader waiting for bus is killed by hit-and-run driver in Pennsylvania
A 7-year-old boy in Pennsylvania was found dead Thursday morning at his school bus stop, the apparent victim of a hit-and-run driver.
The Altoona Mirror reports that the fatally injured boy, a second-grade student at Tyrone Area Elementary School in Tyrone, Pa., was found by the driver of a school bus coming to pick up the boy.
State police say the boy was struck by a vehicle, and state police crash reconstruction specialists are investigating.
Tyrone Area (Pa.) School Superintendent Cathy Harlow said on the district’s website that the boy "was waiting at the bus stop and was apparently struck by a passing vehicle and fatally injured. "
"On-site counseling is being provided by district personnel and additional crisis resources for students who are aware of the situation as well as staff," the superintendent said.
