The Detroit Free Press reports that the body was found Sunday by workers looking for the source of a terrible smell at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts.
Authorities subsequently identified body as Jason Thompson, 36, of Clinton Township.
Police declined to speculate about how the body ended up in the ventilation system or how long it had been there.
“There is no reason to suspect foul play,” said Macomb College Police Chief William Leavens.
Thompson was reported missing on Nov. 1 and was last seen by family Oct. 25, the college said.
