Contractor electrocuted on job at Murray State University

The worker died while carrying out a job on the Murray, Kentucky, campus.

An electrical worker was fatally electrocuted Wednesday at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky.

The Murray Ledger & Times reports that the victim was performing a job on campus when the incident occurred. Authorties identified the victim as Jerry Humphrey of Dawson Springs, Kentucky. He worked for Groves Electrical Services in Madisonville, Kentucky.

Emergency personnel responded to the area on campus around Waterfield Library, but no details have been released on what type of work the crew was doing.

Preliminary results of an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Medical Examiner in Louisville indicated the cause of death was high-voltage electrocution.
