Struggling charter school in New Orleans is being taken over by another charter

The change in control of Einstein Charter School is the first time a school controlled by the Orleans Parish district will take over one controlled by the state's Recovery District.

Einstein Charter School in eastern New Orleans has won $1 million in funding and will take over the struggling Intercultural Charter this summer, marking the first time that a school under the control of the Orleans Parish School Board will assume leadership of a Recovery School District campus. The funding comes from a federal Investing in Innovation  grant. Once the takeover is complete, the Intercultural campus, also located in eastern New Orleans, will be renamed Einstein Extension
