Proponents say uniforms will prevent display of gang colors, make visitors stand out.

The Danville (Ill.) School Board has decided that students on all campuses must wear uniforms beginning in the 2014-2015 school year. The Danville Commercial-News says the school board approved the policy, but has not yet decided what the uniform dress will be. Local ministers had urged the district to adopt the policy, but students and parents spoke in opposition to the requirement. The district has about 6,200 students.
