Engineering Hall, the new College of Engineering facility at Marquette University in Milwaukee, has received LEED gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for its sustainable design and construction. The building opened in 2011. Among its sustainable design elements: extensive use of LED lighting; polished concrete floors instead of carpet; an experimental green roof that includes solar panels; and a water retention system.
