From The Detroit News: Michigan Technological University has dedicated a $25 million research facility to address the most pressing issues of the Great Lakes — from invasive species to climate change. The 50,000-square-foot Great Lakes Research Center is situated in Houghton along the Keweenaw Waterway — a short boat ride from Lake Superior in the state's Upper Peninsula. The center and its faculty are dedicated to researching the Great Lakes' issues and helping map a course for managing the world's largest source of fresh water.
