Former Detroit superintendent sues over dismissal

John Telford was fired by district's emergency manager after new law took effect

The former interim superintendent of Detroit Public Schools is suing Emergency Manager Roy Roberts, the governor and state treasurer. The Detroit News reports that John Telford contends that his termination violates his due process rights. Telford was fired March 28, the day the state's new emergency manager law restored Roberts' full authority over the district, including terminating personnel in positions of academic authority.
