Students return to Chardon High for first time since deadly shooting

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: Students mourning the shooting deaths of three of their schoolmates returned to class this morning at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio. Police were on hand as many of the school's 1,100 students arrived at the school, about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

Earlier...from The Cleveland Plain Dealer: The Geauga County, Ohio, prosecutor has charged 17-year-old T.J. Lane with three juvenile counts of aggravated murder in the shooting deaths of three Chardon High School students earlier this week. He also was charged with two counts of attempted aggravated murder and a single count of felonious assault. Authorities say Lane brought a .22-caliber handgun to school Monday morning and opened fire on several students. Danny Parmertor, 16, Russell King Jr., 17, and Demetrius Hewlin, 16, died from their wounds.

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: A third Chardon (Ohio) High School student has died from gunshot wounds sustained Monday morning. Demetrius Hewlin, a junior, died at a Cleveland hospital. Two other students are recovering at an area hospital. The suspect in the shootings, T.J. Lane, is in custody and will appear later at a detention hearing in Geauga County Juvenile Court.

ALSO: From WEWS-TV: The teen arrested in the deadly shooting spree at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, made his first appearance in juvenile court. Prosecutor David Joyce says T.J. Lane didn't know his victims and chose them randomly. Prosecutors have until March 1 to formally charge Lane.

....From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: A second Chardon (Ohio) High School student has died from Monday's shooting. Russell King Jr., 17, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. Russell was enrolled at both Chardon High School and at the Auburn Career Center in Concord Township.

From WCMH-TV: A teenager opened fire in an Chardon, Ohio, high school cafeteria, killing one student and wounding four others. The slain student was identified as Daniel Parmertor, who was shot while waiting for the bus for his daily 15-minute ride to a vocational center. The other victims are being treated at Cleveland area hospitals. At least one other victim, a 17-year-old male, was in serious condition. An 18-year-old female was in stable condition. The other two victims were in critical condition. The shooting was reported at about 7:38 a.m. Monday at Chardon High School.

From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: A student at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, died today after a shooting spree that left four others injured. The dead student has not been identified.

High school Junior Nate Mueller, who sustained a wound in the right ear, identified the shooter as T.J. Lane. Mueller said he and his friends were sitting at a cafeteria table about 7:30 a.m. when T.J. approached. Nate says he heard a gunshot behind him. He turned and felt a sting on his ear.

Earlier...From The Cleveland Plain Dealer: Five students have been injured in a shooting this morning at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio. A youth who had fled from the school has been arrested in the shooting. Authorities believe only one shooter was involved. The shooting occurred in the high school cafeteria about 7:45 a.m. Officials say three boys and a girl were injured. Chardon is about 30 miles east of Cleveland.
