New campus will relieve enrollment pressure at Carmel Valley Middle School.

The San Dieguito (Calif.) Union High School District is planning a new middle school in the Carmel Valley area. The San Diego Union-Tribune says the school will open in phases, beginning with a 500-seat, two-story classroom building in August 2015. A cafeteria, media center and administrative building will be added the following year. A second 500-seat classroom building could be added in 2021 if needed. When the new campus opens, it will accommodate about 500 of the 1,500 students now at Carmel Valley Middle School.
