University of New Mexico wants to condemn adjacent land to expand campus

24 empty lots would be used for athletic fields and parking.

The University of New Mexico has begun the process of condemning 24 empty lots of land in Albuquerque to expand its south campus. The Albuquerque Journal says the land will be used for baseball and softball stadiums, tennis courts, other athletic playing fields and parking. The lots are valued at about $1.1 million, which the university would pay for by reallocating 2007 bonds.
