Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) breaks ground on unified high school

With a shovelful of dirt dropped outside Andover High School, the Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) school district has taken the next step in its move toward a single high school. The Detroit News says the groundbreaking ceremony on the Andover campus will result in 2015 in Bloomfield Hills High School. District officials have said for years there weren't enough students for two high schools, but neither of the district's two high school could accommodate all the students in grade 9 to 12. For the next two years as the new school is built, the building that had been Lahser High will house students in grades 10 to 12. About 400 freshman will be housed in a closed building that used to be Hickory Grove Elementary School.
