Video: Chicago to hire 600 to create "safe passage" routes for displaced students

School closings will force thousands of students to attend different campuses

Video from CBS Chicago: The city of Chicago will spend $7.7 million to hire 600 workers to staff Safe Passage routes that will be set up at schools welcoming students who have been displaced from closed campuses. In addition, several city agencies have been boarding up vacant buildings, removing graffiti and making other repairs along the routes where children will be walking.
