Community college administrator admits stealing student aid

A former Orange County, Calif., community college administrator has pleaded guilty to wire fraud for stealing student-aid money via checks she cut to family members and nonqualifying students. The Orange County Register says Anna Catalan, 35, who worked for Santiago Canyon College in Orange, also stole student-aid checks and fraudulently signed and endorsed them; the students were told “there was no money” for them.
