Paul Vallas will get to stay on the job this fall as superintendent of the Bridgeport (Conn.) school district while the state Supreme Court considers an appeal of a ruling that calls for his ouster. The Hartford Courant reports that the high court is likely to hear the appeal in September; rulings typically take five to eight months. Earlier this month, a lower court judge decided that Vallas should be removed immediately from his job because he does not meet the state's qualifications for a school superintendency. Vallas has had 16 years of experience leading school districts in Chicago, New Orleans and Philadelphia, but he is not certified as a superintendent in Connecticut.
