Broward County (Fla.) district cancels solar installation at middle school

District was to receive a $100,000 grant for the installation, but failed to follow through to complete the project

The Broward County (Fla.) School Board has officially canceled a joint construction project with the county government that would have brought an array of solar panels to New Renaissance Middle School in Miramar. The Miami Herald reports that the district had been awarded a $100,000 grant to install the photovoltaic system, but after repeatedly botching the project, abandoned the project last year.
