The problem of inequality in the Broward County (Fla.) school system — an issue that led to a citizen lawsuit in the 1990s — is far from solved, according to a report issued by a group monitoring the district’s progress. The Miami Herald says the district's Diversity Committee visited 17 schools, and the picture that emerges is one of an uneven student experience that all too often is a reflection of family income.
