Twitter study labels high school in New York "saddest place in Manhattan"

Analysis of tweets from Hunter College High School finds high percentage of negative messages.

Hunter College High School in New York City has been labeled the saddest spot in Manhattan, based on a recent study aimed at gauging the emotions of New Yorkers by their Twitter messages. The New York Times reports that a computer program developed by researchers at the New England Complex Systems Institute found that a high percentage of Twitter messages from the school contained a negative sentiment, based upon key words, phrases and emoticons.
