Schools push fundraising to make up for reduced programs and resources

A parent in New York City says schools are forced to rely too much on private fundraising for basic needs.

A mother of a student in a New York City public school writes in The New York Times that the pressure on parents to raise funds has gotten out of hand. Much of the funding is targeted for programs and resources that should be covered by the school system, she says. "The holes parents are being asked to fill keep getting deeper."
