Publicity will be reined in when Sandy Hook demolition begins

Oct. 15, 2013
Demolition set to begin next week on Newtown, Conn., school where 20 students and six adults died.

Contractors involved in the demolition of the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., are being required to sign confidentiality agreements that prohibit them from publicly discussing the site, taking photographs or disclosing information about the school. The Danbury News-Times reports that town leaders and construction managers are trying to prevent anyone from generating publicity from work on the site. Demolition of the school building is slated to begin next week, and be finished before the Dec. 14 anniversary of the shooting last year that killed 20 young students and six adults. After the existing facility is demolished, a new Sandy Hook will be built; it is expected to open in 2016.
