Carlsbad, Calif., high school earns praise for environmentally friendly design

Sage Creek High School, which opened in August as the second high school in the Carlsbad Unified School District, is considered one of California’s most environmentally advanced and energy-efficient high school campuses, UT San Diego reports. The 56-acre campus has three multi-level classroom buildings, a library, administration offices, food services, a gymnasium, a fine arts building, an athletic field for football and soccer, and a 6.2-acre preserved biological habitat. The architect was Roesling Nakamura Terada Architects, and the builder was Balfour Beatty Construction.
