Google said that it has stopped scanning student Gmail accounts for advertising purposes.

Google said that it has stopped scanning student Gmail accounts for advertising purposes, the Wall Street Journal reported. The company decided to cease the practice after it was scrutinized during a recent court case in which students and other Gmail users sued the California-based company claiming that email scanning violated wiretap laws.
