Kent Scribner has led Fort Worth schools — which serve more than 76,000 students — since October 2015.

Fort Worth (Texas) Superintendent Kent Scribner has announced that he plans to leave the job.

Scribner has led Fort Worth schools — which serve more than 76,000 students — since October 2015, reports The Dallas Morning News.

Scribner says he will stay in his role until the next superintendent is selected. His contract ends in August 2024.

He is the latest Texas superintendent to announce he is resigning; Dallas Superintendent Michael Hinojosa announced this week he plans to step down. Richardson schools chief Jeannie Stone submitted her resignation plans last year, as did the school leaders of the Mesquite, DeSoto, Lewisville and Hurst-Euless-Bedford districts.

Scribner began his career in education as a high school Spanish teacher and guidance counselor in Philadelphia. He has been a superintendent in Arizona and Texas for 20 years.
