2 wounded by gunfire at Grambling State University

A university police officer and a non-student were shot early Friday at an arena on the Grambling, La., campus

Two people, including a police officer, were shot and wounded early Friday on the campus of Grambling State University in Grambling, La.

The Monroe News-Star reports that gunshots were heard at about 1:30 a.m. at the Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on campus.

Two people, one non-student and one Grambling State police officer, were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. 

Officers on the scene says that witnesses said a suspect fled campus following the shooting.

KSLA-TV reports that there was a party at the assembly center when shots were fired.

The non-student was life-flighted to a Shreveport hospital for treatment.

The officer was shot in the lower body; his injuries are considered non-life threatening.
